Melut Basin Oilfield Development Project, Sudan

 

Melut Basin is an integrated project covering oil production in the fields until its export from the Peace Port at the cost of 1.7 billion dollars. The project produces about 200,000 barrels per day yet it is expected to increase to 500,000 barrels per day.

In 2005, Bentini NF Energy, a joint-venture company between Bentini of Italy and the Malaysian based Nam Fatt Corporation, an EPC contractor was awarded a contract to build six pumping facilities for Melut Basin Development Project in Blocks 3 and 7 in Upper Nile and White Nile states.

Nam Fatt Energy awarded the freight and logistics portion to CNC Freight Services where a total of approximaltey 300 FEUs of Shippers Owned General Purpose and Open-Top containers were supplied by CNC Freight Services and utilized for shipment of the materials from Malaysia to Sudan.

About 20 units of Light Construction equipment were shipped by part-charter vessel to Port Sudan during the mobilization stage.

In addition CNC Freight Services arranged 2 air-charters of Antonov 124 from Shanghai to Sudan for urgent oilwell equipment relating to this project.


Ensuring a Slippery Smooth Expansion of an Oily Affair in Sudan

On average, the Melut Basin produces about 200,000 barrels of oil per day and it is expected that it will increase to 500,000 barrels per day. That is the amount of oil that Melut Basin is able to come up. The Melut Basin produces the oil and readies them for shipment and export from the Peace Port and the cost hits a total of 1.7 billion dollars!

In addition, we arranged for 2 air-charters of Antonov 124 from Shanghai to Sudan for the delivery of an urgent oilwell equipment which relates to this project in particular.
